Armada Grange No. 500 met Saturday evening January 19 with Overseer Carl Titus presiding in the master’s absence. Lamont Wood and Edward Titus won janitor bids. A dialect recitation by Allen Hubbel and a new paper The Spectacles were featured with editor Carl Titus and staff Florence Wood Edma and Hazel Kuhlman.

Annual Praise Service at Presbyterian Fortnightly

The Presbyterian Fortnightly society hosts a Sunday January 26 service at 7 pm in the church. Professor Veatch will lecture What I Saw in Japan about his two years teaching in Japanese institutions. He will present experiences in the Sunrise Land in Japanese costume with song and language demonstrations. Special music will be provided and the public is invited.

Dancing School Assembly and Sunday Meeting Notes

County Institute at Ithaca Probes Good Roads and Crop Practices

The Gratiot County Farmers Institute held in Ithaca Monday and Tuesday drew a packed crowd. Talks covered good roads in Michigan, horse breeding, teaching agriculture, efficient farm homes, silage methods, corn culture, and crop rotation, with debates on soil tillage, fertilizers, and a county road system. Officers were re-elected as attendees swelled from 47 to near 100 in afternoon sessions.

Fortnightly Society Prayers and Sermons At Local Churches

The Fortnightly Society at the Presbyterian church hosts a Thursday 7 pm prayer meeting on The ways of the heart with Miss Marion Trartness speaking and Miss Pagel Matilke singing. Next Sunday features Prof. Reese Veatch in Japanese costume with special music and missions offering. Earlier, Rev. W Mason preached on The Three Facts of Sin and Salvation, while Pastor Mudge at Church of Christ spoke on common excuses, and Rev. Doty and Rev. Priest addressed righteousness and martyrdom themes across local churches.

Sabbath School Workers Meet at First Presbyterian Alma

The Sabbath school workers and teachers of Alma are urged to attend weekly meetings at 8 15 PM on Thursdays in the First Presbyterian church to improve teaching. A 5 15 PM premeeting is set to allow prayer attendees to arrive. The program includes teacher training, lessons on sin and redemption, mission teaching, and discussion led by local leaders.

A county plan outlines the YMCA approach highlighting county wide reach over local pockets, with a simple office enough to operate and no reliance on new buildings. Y M C A Notes North Star Group Sees Growth

The North Star Y M C A group held its second meeting last Monday night. The first lesson in Men who Cared, a course on Old Testament hero studies, was studied. The constitution was adopted and officers elected. A room is being prepared in the school basement for future meetings. Plans include organizing two rural groups. executives met in Alma and praise progress.
