Chattanooga reminiscences from a Civil War visitor
Briar Woopwarp writes from Chattanooga Tennessee noting a 1908 visit to The Southern hotel. He reflects on the city’s growth monuments like the post office courthouse and city hall, the Chickamauga battlefields and national cemetery, and the lasting impact of government funded roads parks and beautification. He recalls fallen Union and Confederate soldiers, mentions Michigan and Ohio veterans, and signs off asking the editor to forward home news.
