Mrs. Miriam Smith born May 25 1955 in Oakland county Michigan married Stephen W. Tinker Sept 18 1879 in Saginaw Michigan. The couple moved to Eugene four years ago. Survived by husband two sons Eugene B. Tinker and S Dudley Tinker two grandchildren and two siblings. Funeral held at St Marys Episcopal church with interment in Masonic cemetery.

Young people from the Baptist church enjoyed a sleighride to William Schiff’s home on Monday evening. The group crowded into a snug sleigh and warmed up with a game and oyster supper after games including The Prince of Paris has Lost his Hat. Alma folks departed late, praising the Schiffs’ hospitality, as the YP.U. officers for the year were named: President Mrs John Becker, VP Ivan D Brown, Secretary Beulah M Brown, Treasurer Laura Crandall, Organist Mrs Roy Williams.

Surprise Party for Mr and Mrs Caple at Alma

Death of George A. Clark in Traverse City
George A. Clark formerly of Alma died in Traverse City December 30 after a short illness. The remains were brought to Alma for a funeral held at his mother's home by Rev. Thomas G. R. Brownlaw and burial in Riverside cemetery. He was forty seven. He left his mother, two brothers Walter of Arcada Fred of Lansing, and seven sisters in Michigan, Oregon, and Michigan.

Frank H Horr Dies in California at 54
Ithaca telegram reports the death of Frank H Horr in Pasadena California at age 54 after health travel. He was son of the late Roswell G Horr and survived by a wife and daughter. A longtime Ithaca business figure with J K Gibbs he co owned a block on East Superior where the post office stands and he was active in local lodges. His mother died a week earlier and Alma friends mourn his death.

Man 58 Hangs Self Near Vestaburg in Despondency
Milton Bollinger, 58, residence two and a half miles northeast of Vestaburg and five miles northwest of Riverdale, died by his own hand last Friday. He reportedly acted from despondency. He left a wife and six children, plus a father and several siblings. Funeral held Sunday at Vestaburg Church. interment at Theralorg cemetery.

New Income Tax Rules on Exemptions and Returns
Regulations set a $4000 exemption for joint Husbands and wives living together and $5000 each if permanently separated. Separate estates allow one return with both full names and addresses. If a wife manages estate income over $4000 she may file separately. joint income over $4000 makes both liable. Returns required if either income reaches $3000 or more. Status for exemptions fixed at filing time or year end.

He was a member of Fitz-James lodge Knights of Pythias and carried 1000 life insurance with Gold Reserve.
