Watch from Titanic Death Finds Owner in City
Charles Walens of 703 Mechanic Street owns a Swiss made watch recovered from the body of his brother drowned in the Titanic disaster. A. B. Leadergood, the jeweler, had brought the piece for cleaning and repair. The watch, in a cellular case, was salvaged by the Carpathia crew and sent to Halifax for burial.

Alma Michigan January 4 1914 the Alma Civic Improvement league reports eleven regular and three special meetings with an average attendance of fifteen. They financed city sprinkling supported Fourth of July celebrations and Chautauqua funds, opened the reading room as a rest area for women and children, planted shrubs, and ran a successful Red Cross sale.
