Old Resident Alonzo Hood Dies in Alma

Alonzo Hood, longtime Alma resident born June 1 1829 in Clarendon New York, died Tuesday morning. He lived on Robin Hood farm, survived by his daughter Louise, was a Republican active in public affairs, served on the school board, and belonged to the Baptist church. Funeral services were held at his Lowney street residence with Rev J W Priest, and interment followed in Riverside cemetery.

Fremont Mich Architect F M Wood to Furnish School Planks

Local architect F M Wood registered and authorized to use the seal will secure the $50 000 contract to supply plank for a new school building in Fremont Michigan. Sketches are being prepared for board approval as part of the project. Wood recently received his registration number from the Michigan State Board for the Registration of Architects.

David H Udell Dies After Long Illness

David H Udell died at his parents home on Woodworth avenue last Wednesday at age about 00 after thirty years of invalidity from a childhood fall. The eighth grade civic class of Alm high school led by Miss Dunlip conducted a city census in Alcoa last Saturday. They counted 4 128 residents, organized by streets and blocks, and deemed the tally fairly accurate.

Three Year Old Burned to Death in Swift & Co Hatchery Fire

A fatal blaze at the Swift & Co hatchery building leveled most of the duck hatchery and killed the keeper's three year old son who was left alone upstairs. Firefighters saved the mother but the child died before rescue. The fire caused extensive loss to the hatchery and its operations, with repairs to begin immediately.

Wright House Gets Modern Water System Upgrade

Alma College Defeats Adrian in Lopsided Intercollegiate Showdown

Alma College defeated Adrian 61 to 16 in a Michigan intercollegiate game held at the high school gym last Friday. Alma played shorthanded due to illness but showed fighting spirit, with Hart and Teachout leads for Adrian scoring and Spinney, Smith, and Richards among Alma’s standout performers.
