Cement factory proposed for Alma with planter mill details
A Monday forenoon meeting in Alma discussed locating a cement factory. W S Nelson of Cedar San t and Geo Reed reported large marl beds at Cedar Lake and tributaries to Alma, enough to run a plant for a century. A 1000 barrel per day facility would cost 150000 to 300000 dollars and employ 300 to 400 workers yearly, with blue clay available locally and marl shipped from Cedar Lake. Over 10000000 barrels of cement are imported annually, suggesting strong demand for a local factory.
