In Gratiot county L P Mitchell faced exposure as a spiritualist fraudster. W K Ludwig and associates staged a covert seance in Ithaca to prove Mitchell faked manifestations using wardrobe concealment, staged forms, and a beard disguise. Mitchell, a Lafayette township farmer, charged patrons $1 per session. Ithaca residents demand legal action.

Ninety five members voted at the Clinton county Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company annual meeting held at Fireman's hall. Directors J J Keiser James Cortright and R P DeMoxs were re elected. Amended constitution to pay livestock losses anywhere in Clinton or Gratiot counties passed 87 to 8. Secretary reports 4617 members insured over 5.5 million dollars in force with surplus over 500 dollars. Company in strong financial shape with prompt assessments and no outstanding liabilities.
