Detroit student Thomas W. Wright won Alma College's local oratorical contest and will compete in Michigan intercollegiate oratorical contest in March. Carlyn recently married Miss Etta E Hearn of Benzonia on December 27 and left for Flathead National Forest headquarters at Mixsouth to begin three months of forest service investigation work. Etta Hearn, former Alma public school instructor, is remembered by Alma friends. The couple will be stationed near Pest River Experiment Station with travel via Alma Ann Arbor Chicago and Virginia Minnesota. Clyde Campbell was charged with violating local option law after an Ernest Monday night hearing. January 2 set for further hearing. Campbell’s bail was set at 220000. Two young men claim Campbell provided them a ship’s vessel night of December 20. Campbell will defend against the charge.
