M. L. Perrigo of Forest Hill markets the E. M. F 30 and Flanders 20 in Gratiot county as the season opens. With orders already placed and many prospects, local business is brisk. Perrigo urges buyers to see the ad in the Record and contact him by telephone before placing an order.

Gratiot Pomona Grange held a well attended session with Ithaca Grange. Worthy Master Luther Carter opened the morning with reports from subordinates in excellent condition. Ithaca’s master welcomed attendees. Bert Mascott replied with remarks on country life opportunities. J C Ketcham’s address on market conditions drew praise, noting producers earned 6 billion while consumers paid 15 billion. Good roads and appropriate auto taxation were urged to improve rural schools. The evening featured Fifth degree conferral and a Riverdale text meeting, but Lecturer Luella Clark fell ill.
The Gratiot County Republican Club banquet, postponed from February 22 due to a storm, drew 140 attendees to Park House St Louis. Toasts featured Hon. Francis Dodds Hon. Alward Prof James Mitchell and Judge Sears with remarks on tariffs leadership and party unity amid strong discussions and music by the Alma Orchestra.
Win Knudson who for the past three years has operated the Wind Sor farm dairy will retire March 15 and be succeeded by Max Ewen. Knudson will hereafter devote his full efforts to his own farm.
In a congress resume the speaker cited 33 private pension bills passed, $50,000 for enlarging Traverse City post office, $70,000 for a government building site at Big Rapids, and $10,000 for a Boyne City site. He noted additional Mt Pleasant Tidian school funds and a $200,000 Saginaow, Swan River and Black Creek claim. Robert Miller of Elwell delivered an Irish oration on Lincoln, drawing rare ovation at the gathering.

Bollinger, New Haven supervisor, was arrested for adultery, examined, and sent to circuit court with $1000 bail.
Last Tuesday the school board opened bids for a new school house costing 65 000 dollars. Fourteen bids covered the full contract and four were for the heating plant. Bids came from Mt. Pleasant Stanton Grand Rapids Saginaw Lansing Owosso Alma Cadillac Kalamazoo Shepherd East Jordan Detroit Chicago and Toledo. Prices varied by thousands, but officials expect completion within the appropriation.
A quorum met at the city hall last Tuesday evening to hear secretary and treasurer reports and conduct routine business. The group elected 12 directors for 1912: D. L. Johnson, J. F. Mitchell, C. F. Brown, Carl Washburn, H. C. Richardson, Otto Sanderhoff, W. W. Caple, Jotham Allen, W. A. Bahlke, C. G. Rhodes, H. H. Soule, and C. L. Delavan. C. F. Brown was named president, C. G. Rhodes vice president, D. J. Johnson secretary, and Carl Washburn treasurer. Informal talks followed before adjournment.
