Eighteen cities including Alma and St Johns are named for a proposed semi pro baseball league in Central Michigan. Alma ranks high in population and enthusiasm, with a Grand Rapids meeting planned in March to set schedules and secure National association protection. Mrs Gustav Woydt of Riverdale dies at her son Bert Thorp's home 125 West End Street on Monday February 15 at age seventy eight. Funeral services were held Wednesday February 17 at the Thorp home with Rev G M H Carl officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery. Survived by husband Guetae Wortt and two sons Wilson Thorp of Charlotte and Bert Thorp of this city.

She spoke Webster’s The Responsibilities of American Citizenship and will represent the school at the sub district contest in Elste in April. William Blaisdell won second prize with The Murder of Lovejoy by Wendell Phillips. The program featured a variety of damations and music by the Girls Glee Club with solos by Howard Handley and a duet by Merle Banghart and Gertrids Benedict. St Louis Man Sentenced to Two Years in Prison

Pioneer Gratiot County resident Mrs. William H Sloan aged seventy four died Saturday February 20 after years of ill health. Born 1841 in Tuscarawas County Ohio she moved with her family to Gratiot in 1854 settling on farms near Mill and Bell roads. She married William M Sloan in 1857 and lived on multiple farms before retiring to Alma. Funeral services were held at the Episcopal Church with interment at Riverside cemetery.

The Senior Fair held in the high school gym Saturday featured green and white decor, many booths, and a thriving money making restaurant with a diverse menu. Proceeds totaled 4 and will support the Senior Annual fund as students provided snacks, novelties, and flowers, with music by the school orchestra and vaudeville entries in the evening.
