Aged Resident Gene Sherman Dies at Ferris Home
Mrs Philate Sherman widow of Ch A Elliot died at her Ferris home on Thursday night after months of ill health. Born in Floyd Oneida County New York March 11 187, she moved to Michigan in 1804 with her mother and brother William and settled in Oakland County. She cared for five of her brother Solomon’s daughters after his wife’s death and remained devoted to the family. She joined the Baptist church early and remained a Christian to the end. Funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon with Rev A R North officiating and interment in Ferris Center cemetery.
