New Ward School Building Completed and Approved

The new ward school houses kindergarten and grades one through four, with Miss Annette McLaren named principal. Designed by Clark and Munger of Bay City, the red brick structure offers eight bright 24 by 32 foot rooms, golden oak interior, and an efficient heating and ventilation system by J A Howdex Co.

Pomona Grange February Meeting Program Ithaca

Pomona Grange from Gratiot county presents the February meeting program to be held in Ithaca on Saturday February 10. The schedule includes a welcome by Ithaca Grange and a review of lecture work followed by discussions led by Chas Van Deventer and George C Lake among others with music and recitations. A reception to the state executive and wife Mr and Mrs F G Palmer will follow. Ithaca Grange will provide an excellent program for the evening.

Local Youths Sent To Lansing Reform School

Wm. Van Valkenberg was sent to Thee last Friday on a criminal charge with hearing set for February 15. Following a recommendation, two Alma youths J. Gallagher and Chas. Carroll were also removed to the state reform school in Lansing this week.

New Train Service Planned on Ann Arbor Railroad

A St Johns newspaper notes a morning northbound train to serve Elsie Bannister and Ashley, backed by about 100 traveling salesmen. The service, running Owosso to Frankfort and back daily, is set to begin around March 1 with six new engines and several coaches added next spring.

Badger in Seville cemetery desecrates grave and swallows rings

Bizarre report from Seville township describes a badger caught in Brady cemetery that weighed a substantial amount. Jaws and teeth shown at the office. the animal is said to have scavenged an ancient grave, scattering bones and casket fragments while two gold rings were found inside its stomach. Break Through the Ice Daring River Narrow Escape

A heavy work team owned by A W Wright broke through the river ice Tuesday morning while on a load of tee. Glenn Hicks supervised the wagon when the ice collapsed, plunging tea and wagon to the water. Workmen freed the horses, but Hicks frostbit his arm and rode home.

Many Stirring Addresses At First Brotherhood Meet

The first public meeting of the Brotherhood of Andrew and Philip was held last evening in the Presbyterian church. President H N Lee outlined the group’s aims for spiritual moral and physical uplift, then Hon W A Bahlke spoke on civic improvement focusing on property owner duties and community welfare. He warned against selfishness vanity and greed and urged citizens to defend neighborhoods against nuisances and decline to tolerate anti social behavior and neglect.
