Eighth Grade Graduates Receives Diplomas at Alma High

The Eighth grade graduating exercises were held in the high school room Friday afternoon. The program featured piano solo Ruth Bennett and recitations by Tene White Emily Fryckholm Clarence Pettyjohn Gladys Filner Lee Shaw, with songs by both grades. Rev J W Priest praised forefathers and education while Superintendent Ellsworth noted that several graduates would enter the high school, presenting diplomas to Emery Casler Russell Cummings and others.

The long time pioneer veterinary surgeon Doc Cowles of St. Louis died last Friday night at over seventy five years of age. The remains were brought to Alma Monday morning and taken to Byron on the early southbound train for interment.
