Christmas events across the Alma churches feature dinners, programs, and gift exchanges. Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, and Episcopal groups share meals, carols, and a tree with gifts. Outreach included baskets of food and funds for ministers and missions.

Mrs. John Hicks dies at home after long service to the church and community. Widely known as a pioneer in local religious life, she leaves a husband and several children. Funeral arrangements are pending with theville Funeral Home.
Miss Amanda W. Barnes born April 27 1847 in Delhi Ingham county Michigan died December 21 1910 at her Alma home. She married August 22 1866 to John Hicks Jr. four children Jav Ro Dora Flora and Bert Hicks. She was a devout Christian lady active member of St Johns Church with services and burial at Riverside Cemetery. She is survived by sister Mrs Mary A. Knight Petoskey and brother Mr Scott Barnes Isabella county.

Last night a group of Alma College alumni met at Mr and Mrs J W Robinsons home and formed the Central Alumni association. James Mitchell Lee was named president and Willis Brooks treasurer. A committee of Frank Horst Gretts Bagley and Henry Soule will draft a constitution and by laws. The group plans its annual meeting during the holiday week each year.
Mrs. Sylvia Gaffney hosted a reunion dinner including her mother Mrs. Robert Kerr of Detroit and her brother A. J. Kerr, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Dunlap and daughter Helen Alka, Detroit. It was the first time the families gathered in years and all had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Bert Forquer showed a lemon weighing 2 pounds sent by his father in Red Bluff California, a notably large specimen.
The St Louis Sugar Company, formed in 1903, grew from 350 to 600 tons daily and expanded to hire hundreds of local stockholders. Led by M McLean and J N Post, it boosted farming profits, land values, and local roads through taxes and subsidies, while offering farmer loans and creating beet-handling innovations that cut labor costs and shrinkage. The enterprise increased farm yields, labor stability, and bank deposits, with rising beet prices and planned expansion to 1,000 acres next year.
Miss Nellie Sharlan and Harry Markham wed on Christmas Day at Forest Hill Church of Christ. Rev A Noffsinger officiated a rings ceremony with Ethel Markham bridesmaid and Orville Cusie best man. A reception followed with ice cream and cake as guests offered best wishes.
