Death of Pioneer Oscar Morse Aged 85
Oscar Morse a Michigan pioneer farmer died December 11 at the Alma area aged 85. Born in Ohio, he moved to Michigan in 1849, settled in Arcada township Gratiot County in 1855 with his wife Mary A. Keeler. Survived by his wife. daughters Jennie and Malissa predeceased him. Funeral held Friday at 11 with Rev G H Carl officiating. interment Riverside Cemetery.

Runaway Team Injures W E Dunkle in Riverdale
A team owned by W. E. Dunkle ran away on a Tuesday evening, throwing Dunkle to the frozen road. He struck his head, became unconscious for a time, and sustained painful cuts and bruises. Mrs. Harriet Sickelsteel Purvis died suddenly from heart failure last Tuesday evening at the home of Joseph Sartor, Sr. in Alma. Born in Dunia County in 1853, she married Andrew Iverson at nineteen, had one son, later remarried George Downs, lived near Alma and Castleton, had three children, and finally wed I. R. Purvis twelve years ago. She was an active Christian, member of United Brethren, and involved with WCTU and WRC. Funeral at home with Bishop C. L. Wood. burial Riverside Cemetery beside husband and two children.
