Alma Opens New Boulevard Lighting System on Superior and State
Alma Michigan last week unveiled a modern street lighting upgrade along Superior and State streets. Mayor Montige closed the switch at city hall to illuminate sixty posts with three-globe tungsten lamps, spanning from Wright avenue to the race bridge and from Superior to the Ann Arbor railroad tracks. The system, installed by A. L. Hutchinson and connected to Consolidated Electric Light & Power Co, includes empty conduits and selective off-switches for north side lights, transforming the city at night and earning civic pride.

Printer loses four fingers in Journal press accident
Last Monday morning a card slipped from the plate of the frogs at the Journal while a job press operated by Mr Sartor caused his fingers to be mangled. Dr Gardner removed the remaining fingers of the right hand at his residence on Gratiot avenue. Mr Sartor is a practical printer and head of Alma's fire department and editor of the Journal. Joe has many friends who extend sympathy.

Death of Pioneer Mrs Henry Post Recalls Early County Life
Mrs Henry Post born in Oakland county in 1842 moved to Gratiot county in 1868 settling in Pine River township. She died at her son Otis Post s Forest Hill home from a stroke of paralysis. Funeral services were held at Forest Hill church under Rev Noffzigger with burial in Wright cemetery. Survived by husband two sons Elmer and Otis and a daughter Pauline born to Mr and Mrs William Holzhener of Grover street last Thursday.
