MLL CLOSET Sn Asia Mich Dec 19 1012 We the undersigned merchants of Alma agree to close our stores from Monday Dec 2 1012 until April 11 1018 at six o clock standard except Saturday and Sugar Co pay nights We are positive this will meet with the approval of the public for during these winter months it is convenient for the farmers to do their trading during the day and with our present delivery system we are sure this will be satisfactory to our town people

Home Merchants Offer Cheaper Goods Under New Law

Under the Parcels Post law taking effect January 1 a farmer can buy goods by telephone from a home merchant cheaper than mail order houses. A ten pound package from an Alma merchant to nearby towns costs about 14 cents versus 52 cents from Chicago. Lee Everett was taken to Saginaw General Hospital Christmas Day after appendicitis surgery and remains in serious condition.
