Loving boy Kenneth Priest dies of appendicitis
Kenneth Priest, 12, son of Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Priest, died at home on Gratiot Avenue after eight weeks of illness from appendicitis. A gifted child, he had written music and stories, planned a five volume history, and joined his father’s church, the First Baptist. Funeral services in Alma highlighted his bright intellect and strong character, with tributes from Rev. Jackson and Rev. Mason.

He moved to Michigan with family as a child, learned barber trade, married Jennie Sanders in 1886. Survived by wife two children and many relatives. funeral held Sunday at 2 PM conducted by Rev Wade with local Masonic rites.

Sheriff Bradford arrested A. J. Charron in Frederick Crawford county for issuing a check to J. L. Cornwell of Ashley on the Frederick bank without funds on deposit. Charron waived examination before Justice Salter. Bail set at $500. he has not furnished it and remains in custody.

Alto Races At Ithaca September 11 Big Auto Meet
Arrangements are made for a big auto racing carnival on the late grounds Monday afternoon September 11 as Labor Day. A half dozen top east drivers will race in a program of eight events totaling about two hours. Secretary McCall will dust the track with calcium chloride and police will keep spectators away from fences. A feature is the champion woman driver of the world challenging any lady to a one on one race for a substantial wager from 1 to 100 miles.

Breckenridge Day Celebration Draws Big Crowd
A large crowd gathered in Breckenridge for Gehl day activities with field day sports in the afternoon. Saginaw aeronaut McGee completed three successful flights using his machine and flew from Breckenridge to Saginaw at six o'clock. The Breckenridge Band provided continuous entertainment and several Alma residents attended the event.

Francis Palmer Dies. long career as attorney and public servant
Francis Palmer a longtime resident of Wright avenue died Monday night after a lengthy illness aged over eighty. Born in Centreville New York June 2 1847 he studied at Colgate College Albany Law School and served as an officer in the Civil War. He practiced law in Stanton Albany and Montcalm counties held the office of Circuit Court Commissioner and later served as attorney for pensions. He married Frances J Pritchan in 1879 and was a devout Baptist with active church involvement. Funeral services are to be held this afternoon with the Masonic lodge in charge.
