Methodists and Presbyterians Play an Exciting Draw at Davis Field

A hard fought game between the Methodists and Presbyterians ended 2-2 after nine innings when darkness halted play. Prof Ellsworth pitched for the Presbyterians with Decker also strong, while Washburn made a superb catch in right. Four times Decker struck out key hitters as both sides threatened late, reflecting a rare error-free contest between veteran players.

New Enterprise Story & Clark Pianos Open Alma Store

Messrs Story and Clark, piano manufacturers, lease the west store room of the Palfrey block and display a large line of instruments. A carload arrived last week and is on display in Alma. R J Dupraw of Saginaw will manage the Alma store and reside there, overseeing the territory. Purchasers receive fifty two piano lessons from Alma’s study teacher as part of the sale.

Alma Wins Modern Underground Telephone Network

Gratitude goes to Hell and Union Telephone for a vast underground system on Superior Street designed to serve Alma as it grows toward 20 000 residents and beyond. The project includes 2 2 5 miles of duct 11 manholes and access from Pine avenue to Park Street with plans to remove overhead poles as streets are cleared and new buildings rise.

Alma conquers Breckenridge in baseball game at Davis Field

Alma defeated Breckenridge 23 to 7 at Davis Field last Thursday afternoon. Allen pitched for Alma with strong defense backing him as Alma opened with three runs in the first and kept scoring freely after the fourth inning, overpowering Breckenridge throughout the game. Mrs Henry Frush returned from Connell Ohio, visiting Mr and Mrs Siege Wilson in their new home.
