Golden Anniversary for Pollasky Mason at Alma Hall

A large Alma crowd gathered at Masonic Hall on a Tuesday evening to honor Michael Pollasky on fifty years as a Master Mason. Guests from Alma St Louis and Ithaca joined in cards banquets and toasts praising his Masonry and civic life, with a Past Master badge presented by Dr E F Bagley.

Growth prompts Smith-Glaze Mig Co to move facilities

The Smith-Glaze Mig Co has outgrown Wachalick and Young foundry space on Meesville street and will relocate to the Little Giant Haypress plant, with casting to move to Alma Manufacturing. Orders, including a 1800 unit batch, flood in daily as stockholders credit the rapid expansion and brighter future for the industry.

The Ann Vaniette and Crawford formed a vaudeville style act featuring thinking, singing and talking and drew crowds in the city. Burt Sharrer Moore vs Estate of William Sloane

Alma city to issue Water Works Bonds in 1912

Alma Common Council adopts a resolution approving cast iron water mains on state and adjacent streets. A May 6 1912 special election will vote on issuing five thousand dollars in Water Works Bonds Series of 1912 in one thousand dollar denominations with five percent interest, payable semi annually, maturing 1926 and 1927.

Married Monday Wedding At Arcada Township

Last Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Laycock of Arcada township, Bessie Laycock married Mr. J A Roof of Ashley. Only immediate family attended, with Rev. J. W. Priest pronouncing the vows. A wedding dinner followed before the couple left on the 1:32 train for Grand Rapids and then Phoenix, Arizona, where Mr. Roof will work. Mrs. Roof, long known in Gratiot county, wishes for the couple a long, happy life.
