George Gargett of Alma survived a deadly D. J. & C. line electric car crash seven miles east of Ann Arbor after a collision caused by missed orders. Three killed, many injured, with Gargett credited for alerting others and dodging the impact. He suffered bruises and splinters but calls his escape miraculous.
Prof O K White state field agent of the Michigan Agricultural College horticultural department conducted a public fruit demonstration at Kennedy Fruit Farm on April 5. The session, first in a series on pruning spraying and packing, aimed to teach growers how to maximize fruit quality and profit with minimal investment while showcasing practical techniques from his Hart Michigan orchard.

Attendees dressed as hoboes, enjoyed college songs and social conversation, and feasted on an appealing array of foods as the 1972 group relaxed and entertained. Foster Fraker was noted as an idea entertainer by those present.
The Arcada Farmers Club met March 28 at Mr and Mrs Harry Walston’s home with forty six members present. Dinner was served at noon and the afternoon featured songs readings recitations and a question box. The next gathering is set for April 25 at Pred Rockafellow’s farm with a program including opening song prayers readings and recitations.
Crandall and Scott celebrated their fourth annual opening last week with large crowds. The spacious store drew shoppers on Thursday through Saturday as clerks struggled to handle demand. Mrs Arbella Scott of Fremont directed festive decorations featuring hollyhocks and a May-pole of morning glories. The second floor showcased oak leaves and Japanese lanterns with light refreshments served in the carpet room. An orchestra led by Miss Lennebelle Canfield provided music throughout the events. Mrs Scott, Mr Gardner of Saginaw, and Mrs Carl Walters assisted with the opening.
