An Italian man identified as Mile Roberts was fatally struck by an attached train while attempting to board near Alma after a night of intoxication and threats. May Thomas, his fiancée, and Tony Ruel fled from Ithaca to Alma. Roberts chased, confronted them, and died when he slipped under the moving train. An inquest found death due to Roberts own carelessness. Interred at Riverside Cemetery.
A damp evening drew a fair crowd to the college chapel for an athletic association show. The first half featured the Olla Podrida Club, recitations by David Magaw, songs by E. Scott and McCabe, a Mandolin Club number, Marza Chapin’s recitation, Miss Whiting’s instrumental piece, and a Banjo Club selection. The burlesque portion showed patched players returning from a game in crutches and splints, mourning their fullback Davie as Knox delivered the oration over his supposed death, then the crowd cheered as Davie recovered. The event pleased all attendees. Alma College shows strong prospects as old stars train early and hopeful new candidates await trials. The regular field day at end of May will select the track squad for the Saginaw Valley Meet in Alma, with Manager Young Judd urging all to work hard and aim for records.

A Beverly family faces a severe measles outbreak in a three year old boy, Wim, who had been recovering from cerebral pneumonia. A letter warned of measles nine days before symptoms appeared, but exposure risk went unheeded as rain and damp days followed.
A boy near Alma contracted measles after exposure from a letter carried for hours. The doctor notes measles as highly contagious and predicts more cases south west of town as residents recall the episode. Alma College notes Athl ic Association plans track team to Saginaw and Arbor Day preparations continue.
