Young Man Killed in Alma Railroad Accident

A fireman named Genson Judd on the Arbor pile driver died after being struck by a freight train backing down from the east. He died about an hour after the crash at Brainard's Hospital. Judd, married with one child, was buried in Chesaning. An inquest found death due to his own carelessness and cleared the railroad company of blame.

Alma College Sophomore Exhibition Ends Year With Orations

The Alma College sopomores held their final year exhibition in the chapel, featuring orations and musical numbers. Harry Wright won the gold prize for "A Reason for Optimism," with strong delivery and arguments about American literature. The program opened with piano duets and closed with a vesper hymn, interspersed with solos and prayers. Alma Free Methodist Convention Closes After Renewing Faith

Sunday night close of one of Alma's best Free Methodist conventions. Meetings began Wednesday, with papers and prayer sessions, led by Rev. H F Gaffin. Notable guests included Rev. W F Hoag of Chicago and Rev. L Olmstead of Spring Harbor College. Debt on the Alma church was wiped out, opening wider usefulness for the church. Also included is a Gratiot County Teachers Meeting program at Ithaca Michigan with sessions on country schools, arithmetic essentials, and school relations.
