Mrs W R Turck of Alma was elected state president of the W R C after a brief campaign defeating four rivals. Miss Lena Turck was chosen as department treasurer, and Miss Mary Taylor of Alma named secretary. The headquarters will be at Mrs Turck's Woodworth Ave residence.

Community Loses Two Respected Citizens
Obituary notices recount the sudden death of James A. McCarty a Meade County farmer of the firm south of town following a two week illness caused by heart disease and embolism. Born in Beverly Canada he moved to Michigan as a child and later settled near Alma with a Republican persuasion and Baptist faith. Funeral services were held at the house and interment followed Riverside Cemetery.
