At a Friday banquet President Gidings appointed a nominating committee of Dr Hall Pompei Alfred Crawford Breckenridge and E J McCall Ithaca. The committee reported President Francis King Secretary C H Pinney and Treasurer F Bernard. Nominations were approved and the named officers will serve the ensuing year.

The Alma city convention unanimously nominated E N Chadwick to succeed himself as Justice of Peace. Chadwick, a longtime Alma resident of twenty six years, member of Wi Meyer Post G A R and of the I O C F, has served sixteen years as a public dispenser of justice and has held Noble Grand in the lodge. A lifelong Republican voting for Lincoln in 1860 and for Republicans since, except Taft in his first term when illness kept him from voting. The Wellington advertises home cooking and coffee.

Republican Banquet in Alma a Great Success

The 10th Gratiot County Republican Club banquet at Realty Opera House drew 200 guests. Rev. Mason led an invocation, menus featured four courses served by Alma ladies, and Senator William Smith of St Johns acted as toastmaster roaster. Miss Harriet McGreaham sang with encore, and the program closed with a light political anecdote. Continued on page 8.
