Taos County approves Anansi Day School move despite protests
Taos County Planning Commission approved Anansi Day School moving from its current site to the former Jack Brandenburg home on State Road 230. The decision, amid neighbor objections from Klaus and Ethel Penzel, imposes conditions including low-flow toilets, a 45-student enrollment limit with shuttle plans, and no home additions without neighborhood association consent. The private nonprofit school, serving ages 3 to 7 with 45 students, will settle on five acres zoned rural agricultural, with fields to remain farmed and teach traditional agriculture and acequias. Public appeal window is 30 days.
