Weather toll of spring storms in Taos County Memorial Day
Taos County endured soaking rain hail and a rare Sunday tornado as cold air lingered into Monday. 1.38 inches of rain fell in the Taos Valley over two days with a Tuesday low near 30. A tornado damaged a metal garage and uprooted a tree near the Fernandez home. Neighbors saw the twister around 3 or 4 p.m. before the snow. Authorities warn of potential flooding with sun and melting snow ahead. Emergency officials mobilize at the Taos County Courthouse complex. For inquiries contact Manuel Trujillo at 758-8681.
