Kansas City Sees Trio of Major League Managerial Dumpings

In Kansas City three MLB managers were fired in a short span. May saw Minnesota Twins fire John Goryl during a visit. Last Monday Kansas City Royals dismissed Jim Frey for Dick Howser. On Sunday Yankees owner George Steinbrenner replaced Gene Michael with Bob Lemon after firing Lemon’s successor.

Lemon Replaced As Yankee Manager By Steinbrenner

Bob Lemon, longtime pitcher and former Yankee manager, returns as Yankees manager after Gene Michael’s firing. The move follows Lemon’s earlier 1978 pennant and World Series triumph, with Lemon noting he remained a “company man” and that George Steinbrenner asked him to return in Tampa.
