IRA Mourns Hughes Amid Police Protection

In Bellaghy Northern Ireland police and troops ringed the village as the IRA held a military funeral for hunger striker Francis Hughes. An estimated 110000 mourners lined roads in drizzle while an army helicopter hovered over the procession. In Belfast thousands also mourned two men killed in rioting. An IRA rocket killed one officer and wounded three in west Belfast.
