Early Social Security cuts cloud retiring plans
After 30 years of payroll taxes Bers Weathers faces a $136 a month shortfall under Reagan’s plan to cut Social Security by 53 billion over five years. The 61 year old planned to retire in March but would receive 264 a month if the changes pass. Others fear disrupted retirement plans and longer work lives as millions face reduced early retirement benefits and lasting impact on confidence in government.
