Agency drained public funds amid collapse at Consolidated
A Syracuse nonprofit Consolidated Industries faced heavy scrutiny after it collapsed in January Doubling as a job trainer for people with disabilities it received about 2 million dollars yearly from state and local agencies yet failed to meet financial reporting and payroll obligations. An outside review cited gray finances, bounced paychecks, and IRS withholdings totaling nearly 1 million as the agency owed tens of thousands in back taxes, while management blamed processing errors and a cash flow system reliant on quarterly reimbursements.
