Court rules religious clubs may meet in public schools
The Supreme Court, in a 6 3 decision, ruled Milford School District must allow the Good News Club to hold after school meetings for grade school children to pray and study the Bible, finding the after hours use creates a public forum and is not unconstitutional endorsement of religion. The ruling narrows church state separation and reverses an earlier conviction. Justice Breyer joined the conservative majority in part, while Justices Stevens Ginsburg and Souter dissented.
