Hada de Slosser of Cornell University’s Cooperative Extension Service advises using the dry or normal setting in cold, low humidity periods and the opposite during high heat and humidity. This can prevent moisture damage and is especially relevant in summer mornings without air conditioning. Regular exterior care, including light appliance waxes and mild cleaning, helps minimize damage.
