Dover Plains man arraigned after wild gun spree
A 20 year old man, Joseph Thomas of Dover Plains, was arraigned on charges including attempted murder, kidnapping, rape, robbery and burglary after a late night shooting spree. He abducted and raped a lone woman driver and fired at motorists, injuring four others as his overturned car prompted pursuit by Dutchess County deputies and a state police roadblock.

Foreman's Body Found In Mine In Livingston County
The body of Angelo Giglio, 45, a maintenance foreman missing since an April 18 mine explosion, was recovered at the 360 foot level of the abandoned International Salt Co. mine in Cuylerville. Two workers died and six were injured. The blast likely resulted from a bulldozer striking a pocket of hydrogen sulfide while filling in an abandoned shaft.

Indian Leader Means Shot In BIA Scuffle Near Bismarck
Russell Means of the American Indian Movement was wounded in the abdomen when Lt. Pat Kellys pistol accidentally discharged during a scuffle with Means and AIM members near Bismarck. Means says Kellys son fired the gun, not Kelly. He remained in satisfactory condition at a hospital.
