Thousands of German-Americans and devotees of old country food and beer flooded Griffin Field at Onondaga Lake Park for the annual German Day Festival. The scene was filled with music, song, and festive atmosphere as attendees celebrated cultural traditions.
During June Dairy Month local farmers invited city visitors to tour and explain dairy operations. On Saturday and yesterday the Costello family on Henneberry Road in Jamesville discussed their dairy farm with interested guests, with Herald-Journal photographer Carl Single documenting the event.
The SPCA shelter on Rast Molloy Road unveiled a $250,000 expansion with an open house attended by visitors including a young dog biscuit donor. Donors listed include Rosamond Gif ford Foundation John Ben Snow Foundation Community Foundation Mora Bernice Smith Foundation Onondaga County Veterinary Society and numerous individuals.
