Central New York Weather Outlook This Week

Variable conditions dominate as several fast moving systems sweep Central New York. A warm front nudges highs near 80 this afternoon followed by a cold front with rain and cooler temps tonight. Tonight brings scattered showers, a low around 60, and a 70 percent rain chance. tomorrow, showers possible with a high 70 to 75 and southwest winds 15 to 25 mph.

Women win wage ruling expands pay discrimination claims

The Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision, holds women in jobs mainly held by women can use federal civil rights law to challenge pay gaps vs male counterparts, avoiding comparable worth. The ruling, based on four Oregon matrons paid about 35 percent less than male guards, preserves job duties beyond typing. The court also refused speedy review of an Iran hostage release agreement and declined to stop Iranian asset transfers to an arbitration panel.

Raid on Iraq Israelis destroy reactor

TEL AVIV Israel AP Israeli warplanes in a bold strike deep in Arab territory destroyed the almost completed Iraqi nuclear reactor outside Baghdad yesterday. The action was announced by the Israeli military. Iraqi authorities gave no immediate confirmation. A Jordanian official in Amman quoted the Iraqi News Agency saying Israeli planes bombed vital targets in Iraq. The French built 70 megawatt reactor was to be finished this summer and its enriched uranium fuel could be used for weapons. The reason for the strike was not explained.
