The Ways and Means Committee plans stricter county vehicle controls this month. Chairman Thomas S. Wallace said all six Republicans on the 10-member panel back a tighter motor pool with mostly "as needed" use. He aims to cut at least 50 cars from the 500 in the fleet and expects a legislative record backing the plan. Central Services Director John Priest has had compliance trouble, and the committee will draft specific rules for employee use.
