Former pros to compete in Festival over USOC objections

Two former international track stars Steve Smith and Brian Oldfield won a preliminary injunction from New York State Supreme Court allowing their participation in the National Sports Festival. They will compete on the West squad with top finishers earning spots, while the USOC plans an appeal.

Warmer Weather To Return After Cool Central New York Night

Central New York endured the coolest weather this month as temperatures fell to about 20 degrees below normal. A high pressure system is expected to bring warmer conditions tonight and tomorrow with a low near 60 and a high between 80 and 85. The New York daily numbers draw was 504 with a win 4 4683.

Truce Ends Two Weeks of Bloodshed in Mideast

The United States announced an end to all hostile action between Lebanese and Israeli forces after two weeks of fighting that killed over 450 Arabs in Lebanon and six Israelis. A night raid by Israel and Palestinian rocket fire preceded a cease fire four hours later, with negotiations led by Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.
