The forecast calls for clear skies tonight with lows in the mid 50s and valley areas possibly cooler. Tomorrow will be mostly sunny with a high near 80, light variable winds, and near zero rain chances. The extended outlook shows warmer days with weekend lows around 60 and highs 75 to 80, with a chance of showers Saturday and Sunday.
Albany AP reports the nightly state daily numbers draw produced the number 219. The item includes a light note about a joking line mentioning the most frightening sound being a long low whistle from under a car, delivered as a chuckle.
The government reports an 8.8 percent annualized inflation in June driven largely by a 1.1 percent rise in housing costs and a 1.5 percent jump in home ownership expenses. Energy and food rose only modestly, while fuel and utilities increased 0.9 percent.

Eugene residents report Bartleby Katt a two year old gray and white cat draws mail from strangers who misaddress items to Miss Katt Mrs Katt and Mr Katt. Owner Mike Moskovitz of Springfield says the name Katt slipped into mailing lists causing a flood of magazines surveys and book offers.
Syracuse readies a six day National Sports Festival with record feats and laser light shows. Gov. Hugh Carey misses opening due to family surgery, leaving contingency plans to festival leaders as 25 000 attend the kickoff under Carrier Dome.
The National Sports Festival begins in Syracuse with Scott Hamilton as the expected men’s figure skating winner after David Santee withdraws with a knee injury. Santee’s scratching follows a shortened program rule change and tight preparation time, dampening the festival’s early outlook amid a sold out Carrier Dome crowd of over 25,000.
