Inflation climbs as housing leads June CPI rise

The government reports an 8.8 percent annualized inflation in June driven largely by a 1.1 percent rise in housing costs and a 1.5 percent jump in home ownership expenses. Energy and food rose only modestly, while fuel and utilities increased 0.9 percent.

Time Inc president Richard Munro cited mounting losses and said the paper continues to lose money with no prospect of improvement. Eugene residents report Bartleby Katt a two year old gray and white cat draws mail from strangers who misaddress items to Miss Katt Mrs Katt and Mr Katt. Owner Mike Moskovitz of Springfield says the name Katt slipped into mailing lists causing a flood of magazines surveys and book offers.
