The 152nd Air Control Group at Hancock Field in Mattydale NY is renamed the 152nd Air Operations Group to reflect new duties. It will work with Germany based 32nd Air Operations Group and could plan US air war operations across Europe Africa and beyond. The 144 members include pilots navigators air battle managers and logistics experts.
The 152nd Air Control Group is being renamed the 152nd Air Operations Group to align with its new mission. The lineage traces to the Signal Aircraft Warning Co. formed in the 1940s, later the 338th Signal Battalion, Aircraft Warning, and then the 152nd Aircraft Control and Warning Group in the National Guard. It served in World War II, the China Burma India theater, Korea, and helped build the DEW line, with long-time bases in Kaslyn Queens and Hancock New York since 1984.
