Mild air from Lake Superior pushed temperatures up from 23 below normal to near 50 this afternoon across New York. A pair of cold fronts then drop temps tonight below freezing with gusty winds and scattered showers or flurries. colder near 30s tomorrow and through Friday with occasional snow flurries and a 40 to 50 percent chance of precipitation.
An early morning blast outside Bank Melli Iran in San Francisco’s financial district damaged masonry and shattered windows on both sides of the street. Police said no injuries were reported and described the blast as damn powerful, with investigators on scene.

The Supreme Court ruled that states may allow television and still photography coverage of criminal trials even against defendants objections. The decision upheld Florida policy approving courtroom coverage and upheld burglary convictions of two Miami police officers. The ruling notes more than half the states permit such coverage, with Florida and New Hampshire the only states allowing it over objections.
