Albany AP dispatch reports Governor Hugh Carey will receive about 700 measures for action this week after lawmakers shifted from staged signing. Bills include proposals to legalize Laetrile cancer drug and tighten Sunday blue laws. Top aides expect Carey to act within the 10 day window as sessions recede.
Secretary of State Cyrus R. Vance landed in Alexandria with undisclosed U S suggestions for peace talks and met President Anwar Sadat. He planned intensive discussions to speed a just and lasting peace and would discuss Palestinian representation and the Geneva conference framework during a 12 day tour to Lebanon Syria Jordan Saudi Arabia and Israel with further talks planned in New York.

Lightning cut electricity to over 4 000 Niagara Mohawk customers and radar at Buffalo airport was disrupted.
