Warrington to buy WTKF FM station in Beaufort

staff reports say talk radio manager Casey Warrington plans to purchase WTKF FM 107.3 and keep operations stable while FCC approves the license transfer. Down East Radio Communications owners McClure and McCune signed a letter of intent to sell to Atlantic Ridge Telecasters, a firm Warrington owns. The 25,000 watt station is Beaufort based with studios on US 70 near Newport and in Beaufort, offering news sports and talk.

Naval mental health pact links bases with private hospital

Naval hospitals at Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point join Bryan Marr Hospital in Jacksonville under the Eastern Carolina Coordinated Care program. CHAMPUS beneficiaries will receive 25 to 30 percent discounts on inpatient and outpatient mental health services, with family deductibles from 150 to 300 dollars. The agreement covers adult and child psychiatric care and substance abuse services, within CHAMPUS caps on certain services.

Cherry Point to open welcome center for new arrivals

Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station will establish a welcome center within 30 days to assist NADEP and military personnel and families arriving by 1999. The center will offer maps brochures and videos about base basics and local communities and will operate 24 hours a day outside the main gate.
