Raid Against Federal Supply Wagons in 1860 Tennessee
In early October 1860 Confederate cavalry under General Wheeler attacked Union wagon trains near Bridgeport and Cottonport, burning and destroying mules and wagons. General McCook failed to pursue deeply, and Wheeler’s force moved toward McMinnville and Murfreesboro, burning more supplies and engaging Federal troops in hillside skirmishes as Crook and Minty pressed north.
