One Hundred Hens on Every Farm to Boost County Poultry
The U S Department of Agriculture urges 2598 poultry growers in Sullivan County to hatch 275 chickens each between March and March 1 next year and aim for 100 pullets laying by October 1. If achieved, this would add about 779 400 pounds of poultry meat and free over a ton of red meat for soldiers and allied families. Hatching starts in March with stock mating in the next week to secure early laying before October frosts.
