Six Thousand Attend Old Settlers Reunion at Farmersburg
Despite heavy rain, about six thousand people gathered at Bennett's Grove west of Farmersburg for the eleventh annual old settlers reunion. A. P. Asbury predicted crowds would exceed prior years, with ten thousand expected next year. The day featured bands, refreshments, and speeches by Henry Osford, John G. Howard, Levi McCoskey, Uncle Billy DeBaun, and politicians from Vigo and Sullivan counties. Ground remained wet early, then sunny, and camp-like grounds offered entertainment with no alcohol on site.
