Mrs Geo Bennett and child ren visit Sparks Kansas relatives in Sparks. Mr and Mrs Howard Folkner of Wymore spent Sunday at Charley Kelley home. Birth announced for September 20 a boy to Mr and Mrs Clay Vaughn. Mr and Mrs Elmer Wiley visited Sunday with home folks. Richard D Vries of Hickman visiting friends in Wauneta. Horse Races Draw Crowd and Three Contests Held

Last Saturday the town hosted three horse races west of town near a bridge and James' house. Ten horses competed with $10 first and $5 second prizes in the first two events and a free-for-all purse in the final race won by Harry Mowry. The Dans, travelers named E Dan C Dan Ralph Hudson Ellis Cook, were noted as gypsies.

Zoellin Farm House Destroyed By Fire

A fire noon yesterday destroyed the north farm house on the Zoellin farm northeast of town. Mr and Mrs Orville ing were away and the flames could not be stopped. Nothing was saved though insurance covered the house and household goods. Orville Belding currently resides on the place. Cause of the fire is unknown.

Infant Died After Birth in Diller Funeral Held

Luelie Tena infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gartell died a few hours after birth on Monday afternoon and was buried Tuesday afternoon at the Zion Lutheran cemetery east of Hullen erg Kansas. Rev. Otto Bergfelder conducted funeral services at St. Pauls Lutheran church in Diller and administered the Sacrament of baptism immediately after birth. The Gar t ell family receives sympathy from friends and neighbors in their bereavement.

Local WCTU Organizes At Church Last Sunday

A new local WCTU society was organized at the church last Sunday afternoon with Rev. Lida M. Herrick as organizer. Officers elected include Mrs Kendall as president Mrs Wilcox as vice president Mrs E E Schultz recording and secretary and Mrs Pfautz treasurer. County conven tion held last Thursday at the Purbury Methodist church with Mrs Forsha directing the devotional portion.
