The Jefferson County Fair in Fairbury runs September 21 to 24 featuring larger exhibits and expanded prize lines. A Baby Clinic will judge ages 6 months to 2 years under expert supervision. Gov Adam McMullen and Hon C W Bryan address the crowd. baseball games include Diner versus Emily Cleaners, Powell versus Darkin, Endicott versus Steele City. a Friday Grand Stand wedding of a Fairbury couple is planned with all expenses paid. North Bros show and other concessions will entertain all week.

Rain and Wind Bring Mixed Help and Damage

The vicinity received heavy rain Monday night and Tuesday morning aiding pastures and soil while corn crops miss the benefit. Cool days hint at an early fall and hard winter as Tuesday night brought high winds and driving rain causing notable damage south of town.

A Steele City Sunday School class planned a surprise party for former teacher Miss Smith now of Endicott. Stormy weather forced the group to cut the visit short after an afternoon of fried chicken sandwiches coffee potato salad fruit salad and cake.

H. A. Hensley Dies Veteran of Spanish American War

Hugh A. Hensley died August 25, 1926, at the National Military Hospital, Leavenworth, Kansas, after treatment. He resided on a farm between Steele City and Endicott, was 51, survived by a wife and nine children, and received military burial honors at Bennett Cemetery.

State Fair Attendance and Local Notices from Lincoln

John Malady attended the State Fair in Lincoln along with several relatives and friends including Kennet Schmitt Hent Williams and sons. A Republican caucus will be held at City Hall Friday 7 30 p m to nominate a precinct assessor Justice of the Peace and three road overseers.
