A cold wave looms as Lincoln visits and town events fill the week. Mrs Hogate and Miss Bessie Hoeft travel to Fairbury, while Mrs Cox returns from Sioux City. Rainy weather, church events, local subscriptions, hog health concerns, and several residents’ movements around Fairbury and nearby towns are reported with community updates and brief notices.
Town visitors from Lanham Fairbury Hanover and Beatrice are mentioned along with plans for a Sunday ball game Lanham versus Hol jenders. A building contract bid for 43 is to be opened at city hall on Sept 30. Village board reserves right to reject any bid.
Sealed bids for constructing a sidewalk along the south side of Lot 14 Block 4 in the original town of Steele City will be accepted on or before September 30 1911 at 6 pm. The sidewalk will be five feet wide and fifty five feet long and must use not less than six pours of cement.
Creditors of Jasner Sevier deceased must file claims for examination and allowance before March 9 1912 at 1 PM with the Jefferson County Nebraska county court. Six months from September 6 establish the deadline to present claims. failure to do so will bar them. Notice will be published in Steele City Press for four weeks prior to March 9 1912. County Judge Boyer approves.
