The Ladies Aid Society of the M church elected E Hamley as president, Mrs Sherman Babcock as vice president, Mrs Peterson secretary, and Mrs Barron treasurer with a meeting set for Sept 13. The town board plans sidewalk construction on the Odd Fellow lot and awarded a cement watering tank contract to Tuck Luhm. Local injuries include Mr Cook struck in the eye, risking vision, and Wm Luhm and Fred Willey each sustaining eye injuries with uncertain outcomes.

The new St John’s Lutheran church in Lanham Nebraska will be dedicated Sunday September 10 with services at 10 00 am 3 00 pm and 7 30 pm in German and English. Participating pastors include Rev W upper Hooper Rev G F Mueller Columbus Rev H D y singer Atchison Rev P Waldschmidt and Pr Saeman Diller. The choirs of St John’s and Zion’s will sing and Lanham ladies will serve a free dinner in the old church.

Last Saturday evening a peculiar accident occurred in Steele City. Within the past few months the third man in the town may lose an eye. The unfortunate man in this instance sustains the injury.

A Wednesday night meeting in Steele City drew strong attendance as residents urged progress on school affairs. The board accepted recommendations to inspect the school, allow two assistants, and report findings, then approved building a new school house next year with little dissent.
